This is one of my latest projects, a CD release by James David, co-founder of Flawles Records/Ministries, whose logo I also designed (see it here.) While the design and layout are mine, the photos and sketches are not. They came to me courtesy of Matt Lumpkin and Brandon O'Brian, respectively.

The CD has two covers (the first two images you see to your left,) which can be interchanged by simply re-folding the liner notes. Basically, James and I liked both designs so much, we didn't want to do away with either, so we stuck with both (there's artistic license for ya.)

The red cover is a photograph my Matt Lumpkin, and uses the American Typewriter font. I did a little hue-adjustment in Photoshop to really make the reds and oranges pop out, in contrast to the second image (which also serves as the alternate cover.) In this one, a satin layer style and gradient fill applied to the background give the illusion of a heavenly light, which matches the light source in the next of Matt's photos perfectly (if I do say so myself.) The font used on this cover is Violation.

The design of the remainder of the liner notes was mostly a matter of keeping the text out of the way of the artwork, of which everyone involved was proud (and rightly so.) The American Typewriter font was used throughout (with the exception of Violation, which makes another appearance in the page titles, and the track-listing on the final page of the infold,) with an Outer Glow set to Darken to ensure the text would be readable over the lighter tones of the photos.

An interesting note: the final page of the liner notes is actually a short play piece written by the musician, and ties all of the songs together into a story.
